"The meaning of earthly existence lies not, as we have grown used to thinking, in prospering but in the development of the soul."

- Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

Larry Taunton

Larry Taunton is founder and Executive Director of Fixed Point Foundation.  Larry travels widely speaking on issues of faith and culture. He is Executive Producer of the films Science and the God Question, The God Delusion Debate, Can Atheism Save Europe?, and, well, every other Fixed Point film. He has also organized and/or chaired a number of high-level academic debates and symposia at institutions ranging from UAB to Oxford University. He is currently working on a book entitled, Graceless: A World Without Christianity, which is sure to inspire some and inflame others. Larry possesses academic degrees from Samford University and the University of Alabama. He is a member of the Society of International Business Fellows and secretly wants to be a member of the Alabama football team but was declared ineligible for a wide variety of reasons. He and his wife, Lauri, live in Birmingham with their three boys and a daughter recently adopted from Ukraine.Email Larry

Bill Wortman

William Wortman is Fixed Point Foundation’s Associate Director. He possesses degrees in Classical Languages (Latin, Greek, and Hebrew) from the University of Minnesota and Columbia University. Bill worked at International Bible Society in the translations department before teaching Latin and Greek for many years. Bill is something of a non-conformist—even among non-conformists. He is fond of high calorie beverages and playing his harmonica in the car. In addition to providing oversight to Fixed Point’s day-to-day operations, Bill is chiefly responsible for our studies at a local level and is darn good at it. A gifted Bible expositor, he and his wife, Jenny, have four fine children and live in Birmingham.Email Bill

Mike Murphy

Mike Murphy is Fixed Point Foundation’s Director of Marketing and Development.  He attended Auburn University where he majored in Political Science. As far as we can tell, Mike has no interest whatsoever in either politics or science. He is, however, pretty savvy at getting our message (i.e., the Gospel) out all over the world. While at Auburn, Mike was “Aubie”—the national champion mascot roaming the sidelines at Auburn football games. Upon graduation, Mike shed the tiger suit and made his way to the University of Alabama School of Law. After a successful career in law and business, Mike joined the staff of Fixed Point Foundation. So far, all efforts to get him to don the suit again have failed. He and his wife Lindsay have four lovely children and live in Birmingham.Email Mike

Ben Halbrooks

A native of Birmingham, Ben Halbrooks serves as Fixed Point’s Technical Supervisor and Webmaster. Ben likes the title Webmaster, and we decided to let him have it in spite of the fact that it sounds sinister and scheming. Ben is neither sinister nor scheming. He is a nice young man who decided to join a Fixed Point Bible study on a lark while still in high school. Ben's involvement with Fixed Point progressed from there to volunteer, and then to that of intern. He graduated with honors from Rhodes College in 2007, where he studied Biology and Film and then joined our staff on a full time basis. His job entails everything from maintaining the website to editing film for Fixed Point productions. Ben is talented artistically and enjoys producing his own short films in his spare time. Some are even worth watching.Email Ben

Rebekah Avery

Bekah Page is our Public Relations and Events Coordinator.  A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Bekah attended the University of Mississippi and graduated with a degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with an emphasis in Hospitality Management. We make no use of her knowledge of consumer sciences (we are not even sure what it is). But we leverage every ounce of her skills in hospitality management. Recently we discovered that she is an excellent cook. This suited the men on our staff since they like to eat. She loves to spend time with her family and her little dog (and we mean little dog), Franklin. Bekah's husband Kaleb is a UAB dental student who has, unsurprisingly, a sparkling smile.Email Bekah

Alan Halbrooks

When Alan Halbrooks was a freshman in high school, his older brother persuaded him to attend a Fixed Point Bible study.  Like Ben, Alan first served as a volunteer and is now our graphic designer. He designs our mail and web content and much of our film production. Alan was valedictorian of his class at Spain Park High School and is now a senior at Samford University where he is studying English and History.  Alan plans to enter the teaching profession.Email Alan

Michael Taunton

Michael Taunton has been a part of Fixed Point Foundation in one capacity or another all of his life.  The son of Fixed Point's executive director, Michael reflects a lot of his father's interests.  As our development and research assistant, Michael is responsible for everything from the delivery of our resources to the production of our CD's. He is a senior at Samford University and is pursuing degrees in Classical languages. Michael plans to attend law school.Email Michael

Mary Laura Rogan

Mary Laura Rogan is a native of Vestavia Hills, Alabama and is currently a senior at Samford University where she was named homecoming queen. At Fixed Point we don't recognize such elevated titles and simply call her "M.L." She has been involved with us since she was a sophomore in high school. As Mr. Taunton's secretary, she has a number of administrative duties that primarily involve keeping him organized and on time, and that, anyone can tell you, is no easy thing. So effective is ML that we have considered cloning her. Currently, however, we lack the resources to do so.Email Mary Laura

Will Hill Tankersley

Will Hill Tankersley is outside General Counsel for Fixed Point Foundation.  He is also a partner at Balch & Bingham, LLP and is that firm's senior Intellectual Property (IP) litigator.  He founded and was the first Chairman of the Alabama State Bar Section for Intellectual Property.  Mr. Tankersley is one of the few intellectual property litigators in Alabama to take trademark, copyright, trade secret and computer cases to judgment or to be counsel in a (patent) Markman Hearing. He has over 23 years of experience and holds a Masters of Law in IP and Antitrust from New York University School of Law.  After college and before law school, Mr. Tankersley served as a Regular Army officer in the Infantry and Special Forces.  But it is primarily as a lawyer that Fixed Point uses him.
