The late Christopher Hitchens was a political observer, journalist, and literary critic. Educated at Oxford and Cambridge, Mr. Hitchens was a naturalized American citizen and a self-proclaimed “anti-theist.” He was also a regular columnist for Vanity Fair, The Atlantic, and The Nation, among others.
After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Mr. Hitchens wrote extensively against what he deemed the dangers of religion. He is best known for his controversial book, God is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything, and, most recently, for his memoir, Hitch 22, a New York Times Best Seller. He also served as editor for The Portable Atheist, a collection of essays spanning the period from the Enlightenment to the present.
