This article relates how the most successful companies (Google, Facebook, Boeing, etc.) and even some schools actively entrust their success to the strategic merits of repeated failure. As Edison is reported to have said, “I have not failed 10,000 times, I have successfully found 10,000 ways that will not work.”

God’s character is regularly called into question, in part, due to the staggering amount of failure that is “permitted” in the world. The charge is leveled not only by the anti-theists, but also by the faithful. The thinking goes that if God were at his post, obstacles would be removed, weights would be lifted, and the wind would always be at our back. The Bible, in fact, shows a persistent self-awareness of this criticism and presents a variety of explanations for why this charge is misguided (e.g. Rom 8:28). Apparently even Google now sees some of the wisdom of allowing failure.
